Wanaka and Queenstown communications agency Scope Media is a finalist in the New Zealand PREScom Awards for its campaign that launched Queenstown’s $2 bus brand.
The PREScom Awards are run by the Commercial Communications Council and recognise PR, experiential and social media campaigns throughout NZ. Awards categories include Best Use of Media Relations, Best Sponsorship or Media Partnership, Best Use of Social Media and Best Experiential or Event.
Scope Media is a finalist in the Best Integrated Campaign for its “Mobilising Queenstown to Become #BetterByBus” campaign, working with client Otago Regional Council in November 2017.
The announcement of finalists comes as ORC today celebrates the first year of its popular Orbus Queenstown $2 bus service.
“One year ago today we helped Otago Regional Council launch Orbus Queenstown to the Wakatipu,” Scope Media founder and managing director Celia Crosbie says. “Our hyperlocal strategy involved poking fun at the pain points of car travel in a humorous series of online videos and print media, to highlight that bus travel is a realistic and relevant transport option. It is heartening to know that Orbus continues to grow its passenger numbers – proving that our campaign helped shift attitudes and sparked a change in transport behaviour.”
Winners are announced at the PREScom Awards dinner in Auckland next Wednesday.
“It’s an absolute honour to be a finalist alongside some of NZ’s best marketing and communications agencies,” Crosbie says. “I’m particularly grateful to my team that helped pull this campaign together, not to mention Otago Regional Council, Queenstown Lakes District Council and the NZ Transport Agency for their immense support during the campaign.”
